Student Hazing Prevention and Campus Response

I. Policy Statement

This campus policy prohibits hazing of students in the activities of campus organizations, including but not limited to student organizations, teams, clubs, committees, and academic and administrative units. The policy also outlines reporting responsibilities and training program requirements.

Acceptable Use of Technology Resources ("Acceptable Use Policy")

Administrative Full Costing

The University of California, Berkeley will charge an administrative full costing fee on external funds received from the sales and services of educational activities, auxiliary enterprises, agency activities, service enterprises, and other operating revenue.

Distribution of Income from UC Regents’ Short Term Investment Pool (STIP)

Regulates interest income from the Regents' Short Term Investment Pool (STIP). The Chancellor will generally retain the interest income received for funds with positive cash balances, though when governmental or University regulation require the campus to distribute STIP income to the fund source, the income will be credited to the fund. For funds with negative cash balances, a charge will be assessed on certain fund types. Donors will be informed as appropriate.

Video Security Applications

The University of California, Berkeley Police Department (hereafter UCPD) reserves the right to review and approve any proposed or existing installation of video security applications on properties owned, leased, or controlled by the campus. All video security applications must conform to federal and state law in addition to University policy. Video security applications must conform to standards established by the UCPD so recorded data are easily retrievable. Although video monitoring will not be used to view or record personal living areas, nothing in this policy prevents the use of video monitoring or surveillance in connection with an active criminal investigation or specific court order.

In support of the University's mission of teaching, research, and public service, the University of California, Berkeley provides computing, networking, and information resources to the campus community of students, faculty, and staff. Computers and networks can provide access to resources on and off campus, as well as the ability to communicate with other users worldwide. Such open access is a privilege, and requires that individual users act responsibly. Users must respect the rights of other users, respect the integrity of the systems and related physical resources, and observe all relevant laws, regulations, and contractual obligations.

Revision of Presidential Policy on Use of Animals in Research, Teaching, and Testing

September 25, 2025

The final revised Presidential Policy on the Use of Animals in Research, Teaching, and Testing Policy was issued on September 25, 2025. Revisions include: expanded definition of Animal, articulation of the UC's obligations, extensive list of governing resources, compliance and procedural responsibilities, and resources to protect the wellbeing of animals.
